Military operations in the Middle East have raised several critical issues concerning heat stress within the ranks. The troops have been facing extreme heat and heat stress on the ground and at sea. US Navy has been working with several private companies to develop solutions to their heat stress problems. One such solution was the Cool Zone which is used in the hot machinery engine areas aboard the warship "USS Tarawa" cooling the crew and the equipment. The cool zone uses a high pressure air aspirate fogging techniques uses a natural evaporation process to achieve dramatic cooling effects (up to 35 degrees temperature drops) without wetting the area being cooled even in very humid areas. This system uses high pressure 1000psi pumping module and an impeller driven fog nozzle to produce an ultra fine droplet of water, 10 microns or smaller they evaporate instantly cooling the air. This unit draws water from fresh water supply not a sump pump allowing for no pollutants or bacteria in the air stream.
