EPA Releases Electric Utility Plan to Improve Safety of Coal Ash Impoundments.
The U.S. EPA has released an action plan that was developed by 22 electric
utility facilities with coal ash impoundments. This plan describes the measures
the facilities are taking to make their impoundments safer. The action plans are
a response to EPA’s assessment reports on the structural integrity of these
impoundments that the agency made public September 2009.

Former Owner of Dairy Plant in West Point, Neb., is fined $350,000 for alleged Violations of Clean Water Act.
The former owner of a butter and buttermilk production facility in West Point, Neb., has agreed to pay $350,000 in civil penalties to the federal government and the State of Nebraska to settle allegations that the company violated the Clean Water Act by illegally discharging pollutants into the City of West Point's waste water treatment system resulting in illegal discharges to the Elkhorn River.
