OSHA publishes final rule on cranes and derricks in construction which will take
effect on Nov. 8, 2010 |

Over 267,000 construction, crane rental and
crane certification establishments employing about 4.8 million workers will be
affected by this rule.

July
13th 2010 Solicitor of Labor M. Patricia Smith, Assistant Secretary
of Labor for Mine Safety and Health Joseph A. Main and Assistant Secretary of
Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Dr. David Michaels testified on the
Miner Safety and Health Act of 2010 legislation before the U.S. House of
Representatives Committee on Education and Labor.

US Department of Labor’s OSHA distributes oil
spill cleanup safety guides, fact sheets Materials to be published
in several languages |
|
|
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety
and Health Administration is distributing thousands of safety guides
and fact sheets to
employees involved with the oil spill cleanup along the Gulf Coast.
The materials supplement OSHA-required training workers must receive
before they can be hired to engage in the cleanup. In addition to
English, the safety guides and fact sheets initially will be printed
in Spanish and Vietnamese in recognition of the diverse population
inhabiting the Gulf Coast region.

OSHA has recently reviewed Methylene Chloride
standard |
|
|
The
review indicates that the standard is succeeding in protecting
workers from the effects of methylene chloride exposure, such as
respiratory and central nervous system failure and cancer.
